Traffic Safety Schools

Traffic schools offer instruction for drivers who have received traffic safety violations. Generally, drivers who have a good record and receive a relatively minor violation such as mild speeding can take an four or eight hour course to have points erased from their driving record. The rules vary by locality, but a better safety record usually leads to lower insurance fees. In some states, traffic school can be taken entirely online; in others, attendance is required.
  1. National Traffic Safety Institute

    • This nationwide chain of schools has trained over 100 million drivers to be safer since its inception in 1974. Courses vary by state, but examples of offerings include a general driver's safety course, aggressive driving classes (which are generally court-ordered,) and classes on drug and alcohol use in regards to driving (which may be part of a court sentence.) The National Traffic Safety Institute offers online classes where available.
