Schools for Medical Billing

Medical billing has been growing more complicated over the past few decades. Currently, health records are almost completely electronic, which requires many skilled medical billers to code pertinent information quickly and accurately for reimbursement from insurance companies and other agencies. Medical billing jobs require education and special training, but the payoff is well worth it. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, jobs for medical billers are expected to grow much faster than average in the years between 2008 and 2018.

    • Allied Medical School offers an online program in medical billing and coding. Coursework includes modules and lessons in medical terminology, medical billing and medical billing technology. Allied is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The school has a certification guarantee called "Pass the Exam Or Don't Pay". If a student who receives 'A' scores in her courses takes the Certified Medical Billing Specialist exam roughly thirty days after graduating but does not pass, the Medical Association of Billers will allow her to try again at no additional fee. If she doesn't pass the second time, Allied Medical School will refund all exam charges.
