Allied Medical School offers an online program in medical billing and coding. Coursework includes modules and lessons in medical terminology, medical billing and medical billing technology. Students learn NDCMedisoft software and both CPT and ICD-9-CM coding. Allied is accredited by the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The school has a certification guarantee called "Pass the Exam Or Don't Pay". If a student who receives 'A' scores in her courses takes the Certified Medical Billing Specialist exam roughly thirty days after graduating but does not pass, the Medical Association of Billers will allow her to try again at no additional fee. If she doesn't pass the second time, Allied Medical School will refund all exam charges.

Florida Career College has an 11-month program in medical billing and coding. The program teaches medical documentation, anatomy, human diseases and medical terminology. It also covers analyzing patient records, laboratory requests, preparing bills and the ICD-9, CPT and HCPS coding manuals.
