Fugitive Recovery Agent Schools

Fugitive recovery agents, also referred to as bail enforcement agents or bounty hunters, locate and apprehend bail-skipping fugitives. Some states require a license to work in the profession. Bail enforcement training prepares students for work by giving practical how-to advice and the legal obligations to look out for. According to the career and education site, State University, a fugitive recovery agent earns a median salary of $62,500 annually (as of 2010), with an unconventional schedule and frequent travel opportunities.

    National Institute of Bail Enforcement

    • Police Magazine called the National Institute of Bail Enforcement the "Harvard of Bounty Hunters." Contrary to a physical defense-heavy curriculum, the school focuses on the business of bounty hunting. Students will learn how to use their telephone and networking skills to apprehend fugitives. The school holds two-day classes each month at satellite training locations across the U.S. (excluding January and December). As of 2010, the institute organizes private courses by appointment for groups of 10 or more, and one-on-one lessons with the company founder and seasoned recovery agent, Scott Olson.
