Farm Bureau Agent Training Schools

The American Farm Bureau is the agency that addresses the well-being and productivity concerns of farmers and other members of the agricultural industry. The bureau also provides farmers' insurance through its Financial Services branch, and agent training is available for those interested in becoming Farm Bureau insurance agents. All insurance agent training is available only through the Farm Bureau. Every Farm Bureau Financial Services branch in the United States offers a training program. There are multiple branches per state.
  1. Training

    • The American Farm Bureau provides comprehensive training for anyone interested in starting a Farm Bureau insurance agency, or are only interested in becoming an associate with a pre-established Farm Bureau insurance agency. Over a paid 60-day period, prospective insurance agents learn about the Farm Bureau's policies, procedures, operational practices and develop their overall knowledge about the Farm Bureau and its business operation methods. This 60-day training period is a paid training period. If you are only interested in becoming an associate with a pre-established Farm Bureau agency, then it may not be necessary for you to take the Farm Bureau training course. Instead, you can do your studies under the agent at your local Farm Bureau insurance agency. Training for associates and agents are availble in any Farm Bureau Financial Services branch and online.

    License

    • In order to receive and keep your insurance agent license with the American Farm Bureau, you need to take a licensing exam. The requirements for the exam as well as the fee for sitting it depends on the state in which you are seeking your license. The best option is to contact a Farm Bureau Financial Services branch in your state and ask them about the specific requirements and fees associated with the insurance agent licensing exam.

Job Description and Future Seminars and Courses

    • Insurance agents with the Farm Bureau only deal insurance issues regarding policies provided by the Financial Services branch of the Farm Bureau. Trained insurance agents may also be responsible for providing basic training to prospective insurance associates. Over time, it may become necessary for agents and associates to take additional training courses or seminars to make sure that they are kept up to date with the specific aspects and changes of the American Farm Bureau, and in particular, with the American Farm Bureau Financial Services policies.

    Reserve Insurance Agent Studies

    • If you are unsure about becoming a full-time insurance agent for the Farm Bureau, you have the option of taking a one year window to work at your own pace and with your own schedule as a Reserve Agent for the Farm Bureau. You can learn to become an insurance agent while working part time for the Farm Bureau. The training is still the 60-day paid training period as it usually is for regular insurance agents, but you can fit the training and work schedule around your personal responsibilities and needs. The training is available online and through any Farm Bureau Financial Services branch.
