According to Ogeechee Tech, successfully completing their Basic Law Enforcement certificate will make you eligible to be certified as a Georgia Peace Officer. The program gives students the skills and knowledge to become proficiently trained, ethical and competent entry level law enforcement officers. Applicants must be 18 years old, submit all education related transcripts and pass assessments. To get into the program applicants also have to be accepted into the academy by the Georgia Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) Council. Amongst the Georgia POST Council requirements are a criminal background check through finger printing, a medical exam and a certified driver history.

Savannah Technical College offers a Basic Law Enforcement Technical Certificate. The coursework focuses on modern law enforcement and criminal justice theory. The program also offers practical applications of law enforcement skills. The curriculum is aligned with the Georgia POST training courses. The completion of the program will qualify you be a state-certified officer.

The Dekalb Technical College offers a 17-week program sanctioned by the Georgia POST Council. Recruits who complete this program will get certification in POST Basic Law Enforcement and 59 college credits towards an associates degree. Financial Aid is available and the HOPE credit can be used where applicable.
