Airline Schools for Pilots in Georgia

As of 2011, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, airline pilots are among the most highly employed type of pilots in the country, with more free time and more regular schedules than commercial pilots. If you'd like to be an airline transport pilot for a living, whether you're just beginning to fly or you already have your commercial license, consider these programs in Georgia for your training.
  1. American Air Flight Training

    • American Air Flight Training, based out of the Dekalb-Peachtree Airport outside Atlanta, offers many levels of training leading up to their airline transport course. This course is open to experienced pilots already possessing a commercial instrument multi-engine airplane pilot certificate, which is also available through American Air Flight Training. All training is done one-on-one and ranges in scope from principles of flight and review of instrument procedures to avionics operations, complicated instrument procedures, and numerous emergency and elevated workload scenarios. Specialized flight skills are developed in the course. AAFT also has a club that entitles frequent pilots to discounts on course rates, rentals and supplies.

    Advanced Aviation, Inc.

    • Advanced Aviation Flight Training has a location in Atlanta, at the Dekalb-Peachtree Airport, in addition to its original Lawrenceville location at the Gwinnett County Airport. For beginning pilots, the school offers a Discovery flight, designed as a first lesson to introduce new pilots to the many aspects of flying. Many levels of certification training are available beyond the introductory flight, and, for more experienced pilots, Advanced Aviation offers training for ATP ratings. Rentals and Federal Aviation Administration LaserGrade computer testing are also available.

    Falcon Aviation Academy

    • Falcon Aviation Academy specializes in accelerated training for flight students with busy schedules. They also provide evening and weekend courses to help students achieve timely goal completion. Customized training schedules are available for all students, and, in addition to ATP training, Falcon Aviation provides training for private, commercial and instructor certifications, as well as assorted ratings. Falcon Aviation offers a large Diamond and Cessna fleet and operates out of four Georgia locations: Atlanta's Dekalb-Peachtree Airport, Athens' Ben Epps Airport, the Newnan-Coweta Airport in Newnan and the Peachtree City Airport Peachtree City.

    Fulton Aviation

    • If you're a beginner, you might start your experience at Fulton with a discounted Discovery flight. Fulton Aviation also offers a Professional Pilot course, which culminates in the training for ATP certification. This training course leads to receipt of, sequentially, a private pilot certificate, an instrument rating, a commercial pilot certification, a multi-engine rating and, after completion, an airline transport pilot certification. In cases where no segments are skipped---opting out of optional segments will reduce the total cost of study, as Fulton utilizes a pay-as-you-go system---flight instructor certificates may be issued as well. Courses can be customized to meet individual needs, and accelerated options are available for each portion of the Professional Pilot course. Fulton Aviation is based at the Fulton County Airport in Atlanta.
