Arkansas Aviation Schools

Individuals with a love of flying, adventure or travel, may consider a career in aviation. Pilots may obtain certification in commercial flying or private flying in addition to flight instruction.   1. Henderson State University

    • Henderson State University (HSU) is one of nine public Arkansas universities and the only one controlled by both church and state. Located in Arkadelphia, HSU is a liberal arts university offering undergraduate and graduate programs in areas like business, education and the social sciences. The School of Business provides degree options in accounting, business administration and aviation. HSU is the only university in the state that offers a four year B.S. (bachelor of science) degree in aviation. Degree concentrations are available in aviation management, aircraft maintenance management or in preparation for a professional pilot career. Flight Training is conducted from the Arkadelphia Municipal Airport with the use of 15 aircrafts.

    Skyventure Aviation

    • With locations in Jonesboro and Fayetteville, SkyVenture Aviation is a full service flight school offering training programs in traditional or accelerated formats. Skyventure Aviation provides certified training programs in preparation for Sports Pilots, Private Pilots, Commercial Pilots, Certified Flight Instructors (CFI), Multi Engine Instructor (MEI) and Instrument Instructor (CFII). Instrument Rating and Multi Engine Rating courses are also available. Flight training is conducted within the Cessna Pilot Center within Jonesboro Municipal Airport (KJBR) and the Drake Field Airport (KFYV) in Fayetteville, featuring modern aircrafts. Curriculum's incorporate hands-on training and computer based training involving the use of interactive, multimedia CD's.

    Central Flying Service

    • Central Flying Service (CFS) in Little Rock is the state's oldest aviation business and the largest Fixed Based Operation in the country. CFS conducts aviation sales, maintenance, line services, charter services and flight training. The Flight Training school was originally a War Pilot Training (WPT) center and now offering Private Pilot, Career Pilot, Commercial Pilot, CFI, CFII, MEI and Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate training programs. CFS works with Pulaski Technical College in Arkansas and Utah Valley State College in Utah to offer the A.S. (associate of science) degree in Professional Aviation. Practical hands-on experience is emphasized within CFS programs.
