Texas Aviation Schools

Fulfill a lifelong dream of becoming a pilot by attending aviation school. There are many different Texas aviation schools to choose from whether you want to learn how to fly commercial airline jets or you must want to learn privately for fun. Some schools even offer college credit if you are working toward an aviation degree.
  1. Aeroism Flight Academy

    • Aeroism Flight Academy out of Houston is located on Ellington Field. Its flight training programs include private training, commercial multi-engine training, commercial single-engine add-on training and certified flight instructor rating. This school is unique in the fact that aviation students can also earn college credits towards a degree when training here. The Aeroism Flight Academy is teamed up with Jacksonville University, Broward College and San Jacinto College for this very purpose.

    ATP Flight School

    • Airline Transport Professional's Flight School is located in Arlington at the Arlington municipal airport. The school has flight training, airline training programs, international flight training programs and accelerated flight training programs. In addition, there are also two certification programs available: Certified Flight Instructor and Airline Transport Pilot. The Arlington location is one of this aviation schools 23 locations nationwide. Another Texas ATP Flight School location is near Houston.

    US Flight Academy

    • US Flight Academy in Denton offers several different options for aviation training. This Texas aviation school offers professional pilot training, personal flight training and helicopter pilot training. It also has courses for international students and veterans. If you are curious about aviation school but are unsure if it is right for you, a discovery flight can also be booked. This school is FAA approved meaning that the aircraft and training material is approved by the FAA.

    US Sports Planes

    • US Sports Planes, also out of Denton, teaches future pilots how to fly sports planes. Training involves 28.5 ground hours, which includes fundamentals of flight, analyzing maneuvers, emergency operations, flight operations, aviation weather, performance, navigation, integrating pilot knowledge and skills as well as federal aviation regulations, according to the US Sports Planes website. Before starting this aviation school, you must have a valid driver's license and pay the $3,783 tuition as of February 2011.
