Grants for Technical Training

Technical-training grants offer opportunities for individuals and organizations to learn the information needed to conduct pertinent research, become informed about technical procedures, and find solutions to community problems. There are a variety of grants available, including grants to assist in technical training for emergency management, grants for training in industry safety, grants for conducting waste and water training, and grants for women who wish to enter technical careers.
  1. Emergency Management

    • The U.S. Department of Homeland Security offers grants to attend technical-training courses at emergency-management training facilities in Maryland and Alabama. Programs will focus on unifying emergency-management tactics in regards to planning, preparedness, recovery and response. Any individuals who have an emergency-management position in a state, local or tribal government are eligible to apply.

    Mine Safety

    • The U.S. Department of Labor offers Mine Health and Safety Education and Training grants to give technical training to federal mine inspectors and other representatives in the mining industry. Eligible applicants are states, miners, mine operators and labor organizations.

    USDA Grants

    • In order to address problems in rural areas regarding water and waste disposal, the U.S. Department of Agriculture offers grants to provide funds for technical assistance and training for evaluating water and waste disposal problems and solutions. Applicants must be private nonprofit organizations with tax-exempt statuses and must have the experience and ability to provide technical assistance and training. Applicants must complete environmental impact reports and keep records of expenditures.

    U.K. Women

    • To promote progress for women in science, engineering and technology, the UK Resource Center for Women offers technical-training grants for women who wish to pursue careers in these areas. Grant money can be used for training study costs, travel costs and costs associated with child care. Applicants must be older than 19, residents of the U.K., and able to provide an explanation for why her current employer cannot cover technical training costs. Applicants can receive up to £500.
