The National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians awards scholarships several times a year to members of the organization who are pursuing EMT training. Awards range from $500 to $5,000 depending on the level of EMT certification the recipient seeks. EMT students who are sons or daughters of EMTs, paramedics or firefighters can apply for the annual Bound Tree Medical Legacy Scholarship. Applicants must attend a certified EMT training program and submit two letters of recommendation, along with an essay outlining why they want to become an EMT. Awards cover 50 percent of program fees up to $2,000.
