The Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) offers nutrition training grants categorized by year or status of the student. Feeding Tomorrow, the IFT's foundation, and partner institutions and corporations make separate grants available to freshman, sophomore, junior or senior and graduate students. To apply, students must attend one of the foundation's approved programs, must have a 3.0 or greater grade point average (GPA), and must submit a complete, correct application with an official transcript and two letters of recommendation. Acceptable programs include the Bachelor's in Food Chemistry program at Michigan State University and the Bachelor's in Nutritional Science program at San Jose State University. Scholarship awards are made in the amount of $1,000 for freshman and sophomore students. Scholarships for juniors, seniors and graduate students range in amount from $500 to $5,000.

The American Dietetic Association Foundation provides scholarships to American Dietetic Association (ADA) members matriculating into their junior or senior year of a baccalaureate-level dietetics program. Other eligible students include those enrolled in the second year of a dietetic technician or dietetic internship program and those in the second year of a graduate program. Applicants must hold ADA membership to be eligible for all scholarships. Some scholarships also require students to be members of a minority group underrepresented in the field. To apply for scholarships, applicants must submit a completed application form. Scholarship amounts ranged from $500 to $3,000 in the 2010 to 2011 academic year and 139 scholarship awards were made. The number and amount of awards is not constant from year to year, but depends on the foundation's budget.

Canfit offers scholarships to undergraduate, graduate and culinary arts students. The funding is designed to provide minority students with financial need with the opportunity to study physical education, culinary arts or nutrition in California. The eligible undergraduate student must be enrolled in an approved bachelor's degree-level program at an accredited California college or university, must have completed the equivalent of 50 units with a GPA of at least 2.5, and must be a member of an underrepresented minority group. The eligible graduate student must be enrolled in a master's or doctoral program in an eligible field, must be affiliated with an approved pre-professional practice program at an accredited California university, must demonstrate successful completion of between 12 and 15 graduate units and must also be a member of a minority group. Eligible culinary arts students need only be minority students enrolled in a California post-secondary culinary arts school. Eligible fields of study include nutrition, public health and physical education.
