College Grants for Mature Students

Numerous scholarships and grants are available to help mature and returning students achieve their education goals. There are scholarships for specific career aspirations, ancestry, locations, schools and companies. The grants usually require a written essay, proof of age and/or financial hardship and a clear outline of career goals. With a little research, anyone can find a way to fund their schooling.
  1. Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship

    • The Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship is offered annually to women over the age of 35 who want to complete their education and prosper financially. In order to qualify, prospective students must be female, 35 or older, enrolled in an accredited associate, vocational or bachelor's degree program and must demonstrate financial need. Students must also write an essay with their education and professional goals clearly outlined.

    Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation Scholarship for Mature Women Students

    • The Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation Scholarship for Mature Women Students is a scholarship offered to women ages 25 and over. To qualify, you must have completed at least 60 credits toward a bachelor's degree. Money is distributed directly to the accredited college or university the student attends. Award amounts vary based on need, but the foundation had roughly $677,500 available for scholarships in the 2009-2010 school year.

    Adult Students In Scholastic Transition (ASIST) Scholarship

    • The Adult Students In Scholastic Transition (ASIST) Scholarship program is a grant for non-traditional, older students. The goal of the program is to help adult students better their self-esteem and improve their financial and professional situations. In order to qualify, applicants must have a clear idea of their educational goals, must demonstrate financial need, must be older than high school age and must be entering college for the first time. The award amount is $2,500 per academic year.
