Vocational & Technical Training

Vocational and technical training prepares teen-agers and adults for the working world. You can receive such training from a variety of venues, including traditional school settings, apprenticeship and the military.
  1. Traditional

    • Teen-agers can receive technical and vocational training by taking high school classes. Both youths and adults have the option of getting training from community colleges, universities and specialized technical schools. Generally, these programs take from two to four years to complete.

    Apprenticeship

    • Apprenticeship is considered desirable because it involves more hands-on work the traditional methods of vocational and technical training. Apprenticeship positions are also more likely to provide pay to the person training.

    Military

    • The military gives enlisted members a chance for technical and vocational training. Its programs help former military members find a job after their service is over.

    Careers

    • Some common employment areas for people with vocational and technical training include the industrial, technology, health, security and agriculture sectors.
