The California Bail Agents Association, which is based in the Los Angeles County city of Carson, is a bail agents representation association that offers the pre-licensing and continuing education courses that are mandated by the state insurance department. The pre-licensing course is designed to give students a broad overview of the laws and regulations that govern bail in California. Classes are typically held one weekend a month in one of seven cities in the state: Burlingame, Los Angeles, Modesto, Ontario, Palm Desert, Sacramento and Santa Barbara.
California Bail Education School has fixed locations in Burbank, Fresno, Modesto, Riverside, Sacramento and San Jose, but also offers online instruction and private classes. The school teaches both the 12-hour bail bonds pre-licensing course for those new to the industry, as well as the continuing education class for established license holders. The school also offers instruction on how to become a bounty hunter and proper taser usage.
Bail Education Association, which has a Northern California location in Sacramento and a Southern California office in Northridge, offers the 12-hour bail agent pre-licensing class during which the fundamentals of becoming a bail agent are taught. It also offers a 12-hour bail fugitive recovery training class and the 6-hour bail agent continuing education class which updates agents on the latest laws and technology.
The Plotkin School of Bail Education, which is based in the Los Angeles County city of Norwalk but offers classes in Palm Desert, offers both the mandatory 12-hour pre-licensing class and the 6-hour continuing education class. All attendees who register at least five days prior to the class receive a certificate after passing the course.
