CAD & Drafting Technology Colleges in Michigan

Computer-aided design (often referred to as CAD) allows architects, engineers and other design professionals to draft design plans using computer programs. Using CAD can be much more efficient than using traditional drafting tables, and alterations to designs can be made very swiftly. Becoming fully trained in CAD can take time; one way to get help is by enrolling in a program at a local college. Michigan offers its residents both degrees and certificates in CAD at several colleges in the state.
  1. Ferris State University

    • Ferris State University awards an associate of applied science in CAD drafting. The program emphasizes the use of CAD in real-world application that includes product drawings, metal stamping and gauge design. Students also use computers during their studies to complete projects that involve solid modeling with parametric technology and detailing. In addition to CAD-related courses, students complete general education curriculum. All applicants to the CAD drafting degree program should have a high school education or equivalent.
