The New England Institute of Art is part of the nationwide Art Institutes, a group of colleges that offer technical and artistic training. The New England Institute of Art located in Brookline offers a certificate course in computer-aided design and documentation. The course offers training in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional drafting and design; however, the course does not stop with simply learning how to draw. As the documentation part of the course name implies, students will also learn how to thoroughly annotate and document their projects, a must when going to work in the CAD field.

Porter and Chester Institute has three campuses in the Bay State: one in Chicopee, another in Canton, and a third in Westborough. All three offer a CAD course that allows students to focus on one of two areas. The first area is architectural and civil drafting. The other is mechanical and electronic drafting. This allows students to concentrate on one of the two major computer-aided design disciplines without spending any unnecessary energy on irrelevant training.
