Island Drafting and Technical Institute in Amityville, N.Y., offers several courses in drafting design. The AutoCAD for Professionals course is a two-month program that is Long Island's only authorized AutoCAD training center. Students can also pursue an Associate of Applied Science degree in either mechanical or architectural drafting. Students can take either program during the day or the evening. The day courses require 15 months to complete, while evening courses take 24 months to complete. Students may also pursue a diploma in computer-aided design and drafting.

Westwood College offers training in computer-aided drafting at campuses in California, Illinois, Texas, Colorado, Georgia and Virginia, as well as online. Students can obtain an associate's degree in computer-aided design and architectural drafting. The course covers basic drafting, residential and commercial design, residential and commercial construction documents and three-dimensional drafting. Graduates of the program will be able to test for professional certification in AutoCAD, Revit, AutoCAD Architecture, Inventor and AutoCAD Civil 3D. Their studies also will qualify them for entry-level drafting and detailing positions.

Portland Community College offers several programs in drafting design. The Drafting Technology and Design Department provides a year-long certificate program. This course includes fundamentals of drafting, kinematics drafting and training in programs such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks and Inventor. The Architectural Design and Drafting program allows students to pursue one of two Associate in Applied Science Degrees (one in general architectural design and another with a focus in residential design), as well as a two-year certificate in kitchen and bath design and a one-year certificate in sustainable building.

Pennsylvania College of Technology is the technical college of Pennsylvania State University. It offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in computer-aided drafting technology. The program requires two years of study to complete. Students at PCT learn two-dimensional and three-dimensional drafting, as well as solid-modeling principles. Special skills taught include geometric tolerancing, assembly drawings and the use of vendor catalogs to select standard parts for assemblies. The school prepares graduates of the program for entry-level positions as drafters and detailers.
