Dietician Programs in Ontario

Dieticians work in hospitals, clinics and nursing care facilities to promote healthy eating habits, oversee the preparation of meals for patients and plan nutritional programs. Dieticians must have at least a two-year associate's diploma or bachelor's degree. Candidates who successfully complete training must meet specific licensing and registration requirements. There are several good programs in Ontario, Canada.

    • Founded in 1919, Brescia College is a women's university that offers a highly-respected food and nutrition program with areas of specialization in clinical nutrition, community nutrition, food service and food science. The college offers a consortium program for students to take courses at the University of Ontario, an affiliate of Bresica College.

    University of Guelph

    • The University of Guelph offers a wide array of courses at the diploma, undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels. The department of health and nutritional sciences at Guelph awards a bachelor's degree in nutritional and nutraceutical science. Students majoring in other science fields such as biomedicine or neuroscience have the option to minor in health and nutritional sciences. The program enrolls approximately 400 undergraduates, and also provides training at the master's and Ph.D levels.

    Ryerson University

    • Located in downtown Toronto, Ryerson University is known as Canada's "leader for innovative career-focused education." The University has over 13 undergraduate degree programs. Admission criteria for the nutrition and food program at Ryerson is based on academic achievement. Prospective students must present a secondary school diploma (or equivalent), and must have taken courses in English, chemistry and biology.
