• The Master of Science in Forensic Studies at Stevenson University in Maryland offers a number of opportunities for students to learn the most important aspects of the field. Students have the opportunity to pursue different tracks within the program, including accounting, investigations, legal, and criminalistics. This degree is an accelerated program, meaning that students typically finish their degree in 18 months.

University of Central Florida

• As the home of the U.S. National Center for Forensic Science, the University of Central Florida is the ideal institution at which to pursue a master's in forensics. Students have several options for study, but the program particularly emphasizes biochemistry-DNA, in order to better prepare students for careers in various crime laboratories, especially as supervisory personnel. There are two tracks available within the Master of Science program: forensic analysis, emphasizing the application of new techniques to problems in the discipline; and forensic biochemistry, which focuses on biochemistry-DNA.

Virginia Commonwealth

• The Master of Science at Virginia Commonwealth University is designed to prepare students for careers in both government and private laboratories. Students are exposed to a number of specializations within the field, including drug analysis, DNA analysis, trace analysis, legal issues and criminalistics. Students also have the unique opportunity of taking classes held at the Virginia Department of Forensic Science Lab. The program is accredited by the Forensic Science Education Program Accreditation Commission.

University of Illinois at Chicago

• Housed in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Master of Science in Forensic Science program at the University of Illinois at Chicago offers a broad knowledge of various disciplines, including biology/biochemistry, trace evidence analysis, drug identification and toxicology, and pattern evidence. Students have the opportunity to specialize in areas of their choice through the selection of electives.
