Stanford University offers a Master's Degree in Computer Science (MSCS). Requirements for the degree include 45 units that must be completed at Stanford. Units obtained from a Stanford Bachelor of Science program or transferred units from another school aren't eligible. The university has specific requirements for the 45 units, which is explained in detail on the school's website. A thesis is not required to complete the program. However, it's recommended if you plan to pursue a PhD or a research career. Stanford prefers its prospective master's students to meet with an adviser and to fill out a program sheet, which will show which classes you plan to take to achieve the master's degree.
