Master's Programs in Environmental Education

Environmental education programs aim to teach others about nature and earth's ecosystems. Graduates from master's programs find employment in state parks, schools, nature centers and nonprofit camps.
  1. Goshen College

    • Goshen College offers a Master of Art in Environmental Education. This 11-month program consists of indoor and outdoor instruction, conferences and workshops, projects and hands-on teaching experience. Students will complete six core courses, which include courses such as practicum in environmental education, environmental issues and history and research methods and measurements.

    Florida Institute of Technology

    • Students who hold an undergraduate degree in either science or science education can pursue a Master of Science in Environmental Education at the Florida Institute of Technology. Students have the option of working towards their secondary school teaching certification while pursuing their master's degree. The institute offers the program both full-time and part-time with a thesis-option and non-these option.

    Antioch University New England

    • Students can complete the Antioch University New England master's program in Environmental education in four to five semesters. Students attend classes two days a week and can choose a scheduling option. Students are encouraged to participate in an internship at sites, such as: schools, zoos and aquariums.

    Nova Southeastern University

    • Students at Nova Southeastern University can pursue a Masters of Science in Education degree with a specialization in environmental education through their online degree program. Students can begin the program in the fall, summer or winter term. Students will complete 12 credits per term. Graduation from the program requires completion of 36 credits; therefore, students can complete the program in 1 year or 3 "terms." Students will take courses such as teaching environmental concepts, education and society, and environment and society.

    • In order to earn a Master of Education in Environmental Education at the University of Minnesota Duluth, students must complete 34 credits which include courses, such as: operations and management, theories and models in outdoor education and education action research and inquiry. Students will also participate in an education research project. They can complete the program in 2 years.
