The University of Iowa offers a Master of Science in chemical and biochemical engineering. The requirements for acceptance are a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a related science from an accredited university and a grade point average of 3.0. During the 2010-11 school year, the tuition in engineering was $8,777 for Iowa residents and $23,197 for nonresidents. However, accepted applicants are offered a stipend of $24,500 if they attend full-time. The graduate program accepts only five to 10 students an academic year, making it highly competitive.
