Founded in 1887, North Carolina State University is a public college in the capital city of Raleigh. Students in the undergraduate program spend their first two years at the university completing general education requirements in mathematics, science and humanities. A minor in nuclear engineering is offered to undergraduates, and the university also sponsors an accelerated, five-year combination Bachelor and Master of Science in nuclear engineering.
