With campuses located throughout New Jersey, Rutgers University offers criminal justice as both a major and minor through their Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice. Students who participate in the major will have to complete a number of courses developed around the study of justice in today's society. For example, the course Poor, Minorities and Justice will explore the arguments of inequality in the justice that is received by both the poor and minority groups of society in comparison to the wealthy and majority groups. In 2002, Rutgers University created a criminal justice master's program.
