AANA Foundation sponsors more than a dozen different scholarships that students can apply for. To qualify for the program, first-year students must have completed at least 6 months of anesthesia coursework, while second-year students must have completed 12 months. Students must submit a completed application, including brief essays, a financial need statement and program verification form. Applicants must also pay a $25 fee for the first scholarship they apply for and $10 for each subsequent entry. Scholarships can range from $1,000 to $5,000.
Students hoping to complete their nursing study also have the option of signing up for the Nursing Scholarship Program through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration. The program provides selected students with tuition, fees, expenses and a monthly stipend in exchange for 2 years of service (after graduation) at a healthcare facility that has been deemed by the organization to have a severe nursing shortage. In order to be considered, nursing students must submit an application along with supporting documentation including a student aid report, breakdown of tuition and fees as well as a W-4 form. Applicants are divided into three funding preferences, with the first having the initial opportunity to receive aid through the organization.
Full-time and part-time master's and doctoral students who have a 3.6 GPA are eligible for the Nurses Educational Fund scholarship. Applicants must complete an application and personal essay, submit references, provide an official transcript and pay a $20 application fee. There are several scholarships available through the program, but unfortunately none are geared toward undergraduate students.
