This grant is funded by the US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Students can receive up to $5,000 in grant money to study anywhere in the world, and the scholarship is open to any US citizen who is currently enrolled as an undergraduate. The purpose of this program is to open up travel/study abroad opportunities to students who would not normally be able to afford it. The program accepts scholarship applications twice a year, and students should apply one semester before they plan on going abroad.

The Fulbright Program for US Students is supported by the U.S. Department of State, and the English Teaching Assistantships program is a student exchange program for students wishing to study outside of the United States. As part of the grant program, students are sent to schools/universities, do activities to improve their language skills, stay completely within their host community, and have the opportunity to pursue other studies besides ETA duties. The Fulbright Program also offers grants for research in the academic, creative or performing arts fields. Students must pick the country where they would like to study, and this grant supports them for a whole academic year. All US citizens who have a B.A. degree may apply for the grant, and the grant is given based on merit.
