CIEE grants generally range from $500-$2,000 per semester. Students interested in applying must complete an application and financial aid administrator form, as well as compose a 500-word essay detailing their study objectives and monetary needs. Students in their junior year of college may be eligible for the the Circumnavigators Club travel grant. Each year, the club awards three to four students $9,000 grants for international travel and study expenses. To apply, students in participating schools must submit a resume, academic transcript and five-page report outlining their primary choice of study, program details and itinerary. Following the close of each program, students must submit a thorough research paper to the executive director of the Circumnavigators Club Foundation.

The Institute of International Education donates cores of grants to students studying abroad. Individual grants vary in field of study, program and location. The IIE offers travel and tuition grants in the following regions: Europe, North and South America, Asia, Oceania, Africa and the Middle East.
