RN to BSN Programs in Massachusetts

Registered nurses (RNs) treat and educate their patients and the patients' families about their medical conditions. Two of the educational paths that are most typical for students to pursue to become registered nurses are diploma and associate degree programs. RN to BSN programs in Massachusetts provide RNs who have a diploma or associate degree in nursing with the opportunity to further their education in nursing and earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.

    • The University of Massachusetts has an RN to BSN program at its Dartmouth location. This program is only open to students who have a current registered nursing license in the state of Massachusetts. Students take courses that include scholarly inquiry in nursing, selected mechanisms of disease and related pharmacology, holistic health assessment, leadership in nursing and community nursing. Students also take courses that include nursing care of patients with chronic illnesses, professional nursing and experiential nursing.

    Anna Maria College

    • Anna Maria College offers an RN to BSN nursing program that is designed so registered nurses with an associate degree can complete the program in two academic years on a part-time schedule, including four sessions in the summer. Whether students are registered nurses with a diploma or associate degree, all students are required to take courses that include professional nursing, nursing research utilization, environmentally related illness, public health nursing and leadership management or history of United States nursing.

    Fitchburg State College

    • Fitchburg State College has an online RN to BSN program that is designed for registered nurses who have either a nursing diploma or associate degree and who are seeking an opportunity to further their education towards a bachelor's degree in nursing. Students are able to complete this program in as little as two years if they are enrolled in courses on a full-time schedule. Students complete the clinical portion of the program in their geographic area and upon completion of the program, are invited to the campus for participation in the graduation ceremony. Students take courses that include nursing care of the childbearing family, nursing care of the mentally ill client, nursing care of the adult and nursing care of the child. Students also take courses that include nursing concepts, portfolio preparation and nursing in a global community.
