RN Programs in Oregon

A number of two- and four-year colleges and universities in Oregon carry the approval of the Oregon State Board of Nursing. Graduates of these programs fulfill the education requirement necessary for board certification in registered nursing, a field the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts will grow by 22 percent from 2008 through 2018. With locations throughout the state, the schools that offer RN programs in Oregon educate students through a combination of classroom-based coursework and hands-on training.

    Lane Community College

    • Founded in 1964, Lane Community College has approximately 36,000 students, making it the third-largest community college in Oregon. The school is in the city of Eugene and grants an Associate of Science degree in nursing. To keep the size of the program small, Lane only admits Oregon residents into the school's nursing program and invites less than 85 students to enroll each year. In addition to the required clinical nursing rotations, nursing students have the opportunity to participate in co-operative placements, which allow them to work in a paid healthcare-related position for one semester or more.
