The University of Southern California's Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering program offers BS, MS and PhD programs in aerospace engineering as well as an Engineer in Aerospace Engineering program. Students pursuing a master's degree have the option of completing the degree entirely online. The program offers a dozen specialized research areas, including astronautics, dynamical systems and controls, fluid mechanics, microgravity studies, nanoscience and planetary atmospheres and magnetospheres and has long been recognized as a leader in applied mechanics research.

UCLA's Aerospace Engineering program offers degrees at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. The California Institute of Technology's Graduate Aeronautical Laboratories offers MS and PhD programs in aeronautics as well as an MS program in Aerospace Engineering. Students may also choose to pursue a dual degree program in aeronautics or aerospace engineering and fluid mechanics in conjunction with the renowned Ecole Polytechnique in France.
