Students enrolled in the BSN program at the University of Massachusetts Boston complete coursework in liberal arts, science and nursing theory and clinical practice. The BSN degree can be completed in four years; the clinical portion of the program takes about two and a half years to complete. The university also offers an accelerated nursing option for students who hold bachelor's degrees in non-nursing fields; the accelerated program can be completed in 15 months and is ideal for career changers who want to finish a degree quickly. An online BSN is available to registered nurses who would like to finish a bachelor's degree.

Undergraduate nursing students at Northeastern University's College of Health Sciences take about five years to complete the full-time BSN program. First-year students take courses in anatomy, chemistry and math; nursing curriculum is introduced starting in the second year. Clinical experience spans a variety of specialty areas, such as pediatrics, women's health and mental health. All nursing undergraduates at Northeastern complete a cooperative education experience such as community service at a health clinic or conducting a research project under the supervision of a faculty member. A dual-degree program permits registered nurses with an associate's degree to complete a bachelor's and master's in nursing in as little as two years of full-time study.
