Registered Nursing Schools in Florida

Registered nurses are trained professionals who care for patients who are ill, injured or disabled. Attending a registered nursing school will prepare students to take the national registry examination that is administered by the National Council Licensure Examination in order to enter the nursing field as a registered nurse.

    • Palm Beach State College offers a registered nursing program that prepares students for the National Council Licensure Examination to become a registered nurse. This program leads to an associate of science degree and lasts for four semesters. Classes are offered to students on a full-time basis or in an evening and weekend format. In the evening and weekend format, students will take courses in the evening and complete their clinical experiences on the weekend. Students will take courses that include introduction to pharmacotherapeutics, nursing, critical thinking in nursing and pharmacology for nursing.

    University of Central Florida

    • The University of Central Florida has a basic bachelor's degree program in nursing. The clinical portion of this program is conducted in clinical facilities throughout the central Florida area. Students must complete courses that include communication foundations, principles of statistics, American national government, general psychology and general chemistry. Students will also take major-related courses that include the role of the professional nurse, psychiatric mental health nursing, essentials of nursing practice, public health nursing, health care issues, policies and economics and nursing leadership, management and role transition.

    Remington College

    • Remington College's Lake Mary location in Florida has an accelerated nursing program that is designed for a student who has already earned a bachelor's degree in a different subject, but is interested in becoming a registered nurse. This program lasts for 12 months and students will receive their bachelor of science degree in nursing after completion. The clinical experiences within this program will be conducted at local area hospital and clinical facilities in the Orlando area. Students will take courses that include essentials of nursing practice, nursing care of the adult, nutrition and health promotion, nursing care of women and children, gerontological nursing and transition to practice.
