Central Texas College has a medical transcription program that is approved by the ACCP and is administered in an online format. It can be completed in three semesters of study. Students take classes in the fall, spring and summer semesters, and there are no prerequisite courses for this program. Students will take courses such as beginning keyboarding, medical terminology, advanced medical transcription and proofreading and editing. Upon completion of this program, students receive a Certificate of Completion.

Columbia State Community College has an ACCP-approved medical transcription program that does not earn the student college credit. This program is taken specifically for trade purposes and consists of 905 intensive hours of instruction. This program is completed online, and students take courses that include anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, medical procedures and specialties and medical legal requirements.

Guilford Technical Community College has an ACCP-approved online medical transcription program that leads to a diploma upon successful completion. The program can be completed in one year of three semesters with the internship scheduled for completion in the summer semester. Students will need to complete 16 courses that include software applications, medical terminology, medical transcription, keyboard skill building and medical legal issues.

Richland Community College’s ACCP-approved medical transcription program is administered online and requires that students complete an online orientation prior to beginning classes. Students who complete this program will receive a certificate of completion; students also have the option to pursue a degree. However, this option is not available online. Students will take six courses over three semesters, in subjects that include medical terminology, medical transcription, medical office anatomy and interpreting healthcare records.
