X-Ray Technician Programs in Washington

Also referred to as radiographers or radiologic technologists, X-ray technicians are highly trained allied health professionals who take detailed images of bodily tissues, organs and bones for medical diagnosis and treatment. According to the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), there are currently 10 accredited schools in Washington that offer training in X-ray technology. Graduates are prepared to sit the ARRT's national certification examination.

    • In addition to certificates in computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and vascular interventional technology, Bellevue College offers a 23-month Associate in Arts degree in radiologic technology. Applicants must complete courses in anatomy and physiology, algebra and English with a GPA of 2.7 or better. Students receive training in patient care and safety, radiographic procedures, physics and pathology.

    • Bellingham Technical College offers an Associate in Applied Science degree in radiologic technology.     Columbia Basin College

    • An eight-quarter Associate of Applied Science program in radiologic technology is available at Columbia Basin College. Applicants must complete coursework in anatomy and physiology, English composition, communication, statistics and psychology with a GPA of at least 2.0 or higher. Students receive training in diagnostic procedures, radiation safety, image and film processing, equipment operation and radiographic exposures.

    Pima Medical Institute

    • Pima Medical Institute offers a two-year associate degree program in radiography that includes four semesters of practical clinical experience. Course topics include examination techniques, radiation safety, patient care, pathology, radiographic biology and procedural positioning.
