Several schools within the Technical College System of Georgia offer an Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in radiologic technology. Students pursuing a degree must first complete general education courses in humanities, math and natural sciences, social or behavioral sciences. Additional required courses include anatomy, public speaking, introduction to healthcare, medical terminology, introduction to computers and nearly 20 courses specific to radiology. Students attending a Georgia technical college may be eligible for the HOPE scholarship.

The College of Coastal Georgia, a University System of Georgia school, offers an Associate of Science degree in radiologic science. Two private colleges, both in the Atlanta area, offer programs for X-ray technicians: Sanford-Brown College offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in radiography, and the Institute of Allied Medical Professionals offers a two-year certificate program in radiography.
