Georgia LPN Programs

A licensed practical nurse (LPN) provides health care to sick, injured, or pregnant patients under the direct supervision of a physician or registered nurse in a stable medical environment. Those drawn to careers requiring the care and nurturing of people are ideal for this profession. Georgia has a number of programs in community colleges and technical schools resulting in LPN credentials for graduates.
  1. Altamaha Technical College

    • Altahama Technical College combines didactic and experiential learning together by subject matter, which enhances depth of learning for the students. The entire practical nursing curriculum requires completion of 95 credit hours. Basic theory classes include medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, and psychology. Clinical practicum courses provide experience in various nursing specialties such as pediatrics, obstetrics, and surgical nursing. Candidates applying to the program must be at least 17 years of age, hold a high school diploma or GED and have proof of current immunizations. Successful graduates will be equipped to sit for the state licensure exam and subsequently work as a licensed practical nurse.

    Heart of Georgia Technical College

    • Heart of Georgia Technical College offers an LPN program that consists of five consecutive quarters of fundamental theory and clinical experience learning. Successful completion of this program equips graduates with the knowledge to sit for the state licensure exam for practical nursing as well as provides them with the skill to deliver excellent, ethical care to patients. The faculty in the LPN program encourages nurses to use their training in the behavioral sciences to assess the mental and emotional status of patients as well as physical status. This allows for treatment and care of the whole client and not simply symptomatic relief.
