Edison State Community College is a public two-year college in the rural western Ohio city of Piqua. Chartered in 1973, Edison State also has a campus in nearby Greenville. With more than 30 certificate and associate degree programs of study, today Edison State's academic catalog includes courses of study ranging from accounting to theater performance. Through classroom study and clinical fieldwork, the four-semester Associate of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technician/Clinical Laboratory Technician trains graduates for careers as medical laboratory assistants. The program's curriculum includes courses in biology, medical terminology, hematology and general education coursework in composition and behavioral science.

Founded in 1967, De Anza College is in the suburban California mountain city of Cupertino. The public two-year community college offers certificate and associate degree programs in more than 100 areas, including an associate degree program in medical laboratory technology housed within De Anza's Biological, Health and Environmental Sciences division. Lectures in clinical coagulation, clinical microbiology and clinical urinalysis are all supplemented with laboratory work. Students matriculated in De Anza's medical laboratory technology degree program are additionally required to complete more than 800 hours in externship work at designated area clinical sites. Full-time students can complete the program's degree requirements in less than three years.

Established in 1971, Southwestern Illinois College is a public two-year college. With its main campus in the small suburban Illinois city of Belleville, Southwestern has two additional campuses in southwestern Illinois. The college's academic offerings include associate degree and certificate programs in engineering, fine arts and general studies, among others. Southwestern features an Associate in Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology degree program housed within the Health Sciences & Homeland Security Division. The program's two-year curriculum combines general education coursework with occupation studies in medical laboratory technology. Students will spend substantial time completing clinical experience throughout the program's second year.
