Scholarships in Nueces County, Texas

Nueces County, a Texas county that includes the city of Corpus Christi and the area known as the Coastal Bend, offers a variety of grant programs that can help offset the cost of education for those who qualify. These grants are offered based on demonstrated need and ability and, unlike loans, do not require repayment.
  1. Nueces County Junior Livestock Show Scholarship

    • The Nueces County Junior Livestock Show offers scholarships to qualifying recipients who are residents of Neuces County. Scholarship awards are issued based on varying factors including stock show participation, academic achievement, personal interviews and references and participation in local chapters of Future Farmers of America (FFA), 4-H and Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). In order to qualify for educational scholarships through the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show, an applicant must be a resident of Nueces County, be able to supply a transcript signed by the high school principal documenting academic standing and be prepared to attend a college, university or trade school immediately upon receipt of the scholarship. Applicants also must have competed in the Nueces County Junior Livestock Show for at least two years prior to application. All scholarships are awarded on an individual basis, and awards vary.

    Texas A&M Scholarships

    • Texas A&M University College of Nursing & Health Sciences grants scholarships to qualifying College of Nursing and health sciences students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Scholarships distributed through A&M include grant-based funding for acute care nurse practitioner students, the Susan McAdams Dugan scholarship---which is provided to female nursing students who demonstrate financial need---and the County Medical Society Alliances scholarship, which is a renewable, five-year scholarship provided to students who are majoring in fields such as premed, chemistry and biology. Also included as qualified recipients of the County Medical Society Alliances scholarship are medical students who are completing a five-year residency program.

    Coastal Bend Community Foundation Scholarships

    • The Coastal Bend Community Foundation provides a myriad of scholarship opportunities to residents of Nueces County and the communities of the Coastal Bend region. These grants, which are offered based on need and ability, can be used toward the cost of obtaining an education through area community colleges and universities for those who qualify. Funds are distributed through approved area tax-exempt agencies and nonprofit programs. Many grants are awarded based on a student's participation in certain extracurricular activities or interest in a particular area of study. High school graduates applying for a Coastal Bend Community Foundation scholarship must have earned a diploma in one of the following counties: Aransas, Bee, Jim Wells, Kleberg, Nueces, Refugio and San Patricio.
