St. George's University on the island nation of Grenada is the most prestigious medical school in the Caribbean. It is the oldest private school of medicine in the region and is a pioneer in international medical education. It was the first non-U.S. medical school to obtain approval to conduct medical training in New York and New Jersey. Students have the opportunity to complete their clinical training at over 70 affiliated hospitals in the United States. The school offers several dual-degree programs. Students can combine study for a Master of Public Health or a Master of Science along with their medical education. Undergraduates can also apply for a Bachelor of Science/MD program. The school has state-of-the-art facilities, and the campus is made up of Spanish-style buildings on a cliff next to the ocean.

The American University of the Caribbean, originally located on the island of Montserrat, is in St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles. This for-profit school moved to its current located after a volcanic explosion in 1995 buried much of Montserrat. The school's young facilities feature state-of-the-art labs and classrooms. The school has clinical partnerships with several hospitals in the United States. It is active in the cutting-edge International Virtual Medical School program, which provides e-learning resources to schools around the world.

The Saba University School of Medicine is located on an island in the Netherlands-Antilles, 28 miles south of St. Maarten. Founded in 1986, the young school on the island nation of Saba focuses on small class sizes, teacher-student relationships and a faculty-wide "open door" policy. The school boasts that it exposes students to clinical cases early in its curriculum. Clinical rotations are completed at teaching hospitals in the U.S. and Canada. Saba graduates practice in all 50 states.
