The University of Texas at Houston program offers five ACGME accredited surgery programs in general surgery, colon and rectal surgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery and urology. The general surgery residency program must be completed before applying for all the surgical specialties, except urology (One year of general surgery training is built into the program). The general surgery and urology programs are both 5-year programs; colon and rectal surgery is 1 year; and the plastic surgery and pediatric surgery programs are 2 years.
