ACGME Accredited Medical Schools

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredits medical training programs in the United States for doctors who have already obtained their MD. ACGME has accredited many programs. Accredited programs can be searched on the website by specialty (such as emergency medicine or immunology) or by state.
  1. George Washington University

    • The George Washington University program offers a 2-year ACGME accredited program in the specialty of toxicology in the Department of Emergency Medicine. The program includes course work, clinical and hands-on work, research and telephone consultations. This program is sponsored by the George Washington University School of Medicine. George Washington also offers programs in other specialties including rheumatology, infectious disease and urology.

    University of Florida

    • The University of Florida program offers an ACGME accredited fellowship in interventional cardiology. This fellowship, which is a 1-year program, includes research, lectures, and hands-on work with patients. This program is sponsored by the University of Florida. Other specialties offered include sports medicine, medical genetics and dermatology.

    Stanford University

    • The Stanford University program offers an ACGME accredited fellowship in over 75 specialties and subspecialties such as neurology, anesthesiology and pediatrics among others. Both 1- and 2-year fellowship programs are available. This program is sponsored by the Stanford University Medical Center.

    University of Texas at Houston

    • The University of Texas at Houston program offers five ACGME accredited surgery programs in general surgery, colon and rectal surgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery and urology. The general surgery residency program must be completed before applying for all the surgical specialties, except urology (One year of general surgery training is built into the program). The general surgery and urology programs are both 5-year programs; colon and rectal surgery is 1 year; and the plastic surgery and pediatric surgery programs are 2 years. This program is sponsored by the University of Texas Health Science Center.
