Wisconsin Medical Schools

The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, located in Madison, considers the state borders as the boundaries of the school. Beginning in their first year and continuing through their fourth year, students experience training in community hospitals and clinics throughout the state. The Medical College of Wisconsin, located in Milwaukee, participates in community partnerships, such as the healthier Wisconsin partnership program.     • The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (originally founded as the University of Wisconsin Medical School) is the first school of medicine and public health in the nation. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks it as one of the best medical schools for primary care and research. The school is a leader in cancer research and stem cell research. In addition to other medical programs, the school offers an MD/MPH program (Master of Public Health). It provides patient care at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, recognized by U.S. News & World Report for its quality, safety and patient satisfaction.

    Medical College of Wisconsin

    • The Medical College of Wisconsin is the largest research institution in the Milwaukee area and the second largest in Wisconsin. It is the recipient of research and training awards from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The college provides patient care through Medical College Physicians, the college's group practice and Children's Specialty Group, a joint venture with Children's Hospital and Health System. Teaching affiliates are Froedtert Hospital, Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and the Zablocki VA Medical Center.
