Medical Schools in Maine

The state of Maine has a few medical schools to prepare students for careers in the health care industry. New England states are close in proximity and students from the bordering states may also attend the programs offered by Maine schools such as osteopathic medicine, dental hygiene or nursing.

    • The University of New England's College of Osteopathic Medicine is located in Portland, Maine. The school is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, and the College of Osteopathic Medicine is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association's Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation. The university prepares its students to become osteopathic physicians and has departments in Pediatrics, Family Medicine and Graduate Medical Education.

    University of Maine

    • The University of Maine offers associate and bachelor's degrees in Dental Hygiene. The Dental Hygiene Program is accredited by the American Dental Association and encourages students to study both dental health courses and general studies classes. Students are prepared to administer clinical services including patient assessment, instrumentation, dental radiography, application of fluorides and sealants, and administration of local anesthesia.
