In this facility, students use computers to simulate real-life patient situations, providing hands-on training.

Situated in Tampa, the University of South Florida College of Medicine is a public institution with approximately 480 students in its M.D. program. The college has an admission rate of around 7 percent with only 10 percent of those admitted coming from outside of Florida. Unlike other medical-school programs, the university features clinical practice in the first year rather than the third. During these early years, students spend half a day every week learning from accomplished physicians in general practice and specialty areas. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the university's outreach programs like the Project World Health, which sends medical teams overseas, and the Bridge Healthcare Clinic, which gives free care to residents of Tampa.
