Semmelweis University

• Semmelweis is the oldest medical school in Hungary and is located in the historical city of Budapest, with a history which stretches back to 1769. It offers English and German language undergraduate degrees in medicine. Different programs in your medical course include medical biology, medical chemistry and neurology. Semmelweis graduates are able to sit for the U.S. medical licensing examinations; after passing them they are eligible for to do a medical residency in the U.S.

University of Debrecen

• The University of Debrecen's faculty of medicine was named in Europe's top 500 job creating organizations in 2006 by the European nonprofit Entrepreneurs for Growth organization. The University has had a 32 percent rise in the amount of students attending their medical faculty, and an over 80 percent rise in the amount of students applying for their dentistry course.The medical school has 22 departments of basic sciences and 25 clinical departments ranging from internal medicine to cardiology.The language of instruction is English although students are expected to learn Hungarian by their third year. Education at Debrecen Medical School is accredited by the World Health Organization, US Department of Education, The State Education Department and the Medical Board of California. You must sit for the U.S. medical licensing examinations to be considered for American residency.

University of Pécs

• In the fourth largest city in Hungary, Szeged, the University of Szeged provides a more low-key student experience. The University is still considered prestigious; it was named in the top 400 universities in the world by the Academic Ranking of World Universities.
