Students in Norway who are planning to have a career in the medical field must enroll in the best universities. These medical schools in Norway provide their students the education they need to excel.   1. University of Bergen

    • The University of Bergen Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has the following departments: Department of Biomedicine, Department of Clinical Medicine, Department of Surgical Sciences, Department of Clinical Dentistry, Department of Public Health and Primary Health Care, Institute of Medicine, the Gade Institute and the Centre for International Health. University of Bergen accepts foreign students, but there are no degree studies in the English language. Students must be proficient in Norwegian in order to qualify for admission. Non-Norwegian applicants must also fulfill requirements from the NUCAS or Norwegian Universities and Colleges Admission Service. The American Board of Genetic Counseling or ABGC accredits the medical programs. Their approval means that the programs provide a well-rounded education that meets their standards. Graduates of the Master's degree of Genetic Counseling who wish to practice in Canada and the United States, may take an exam to be a certified member of the ABGC.

    University of Oslo

    • The University of Oslo is Norway’s biggest and oldest establishment of higher education. The university has more or less 27,700 students. University of Oslo’s Faculty of Medicine offers programs for undergraduates and those seeking higher education. They offer courses in medicine, nutrition, health management and health economics, international health and a doctoral degree program. The departments at the Faculty of Medicine include the Institute of Health and Society, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Institute of Forensic Medicine, Center for Molecular Biology and Neuroscience, Centre for Immune Regulation and Centre for Cancer Biomedicine. Some of the programs are available in English and some are in Norwegian. Applicants must fulfill the basic entrance requirements set for Norwegian Universities.

    University of Tromsø

    • The University of Tromsø has a Faculty of Health Sciences where students interested in medicine can apply. The Health Sciences divides into seven departments. These are the Department of Medical Biology, Department of Clinical Medicine, Department of Community Medicine, Department of Pharmacy, Department of Clinical Dentistry, Department of Psychology and the Department of Health and Care Sciences. Foreign students who wish to apply at the university can take part in exchange programs with the university.
