The University of Arizona has an Integrative Medical Center (the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine) which focuses on education to students, practical clinical care training and research methods. The Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine teaches one of the most comprehensive integrative medicine curricula as well as offering an integrative medicine residency combined with traditional medical residencies. The Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine is currently one of the leading institutions for integrative medicine worldwide, with a 400 trained fellows (some of whom are leading experts in integrative medicine) and a faculty that has significantly contributed to the field of integrative medicine.
Yosan University teaches traditional Chinese medicine alongside modern integrative medicine courses. The master's degree course in integrative medicine is delivered over four years; the first year consists of a "discovery" course, teaching the foundations of integrative medicine and Eastern and Western medical history. The second year focuses on applying and practicing techniques from the first year within a classroom, which will then be used in practical, hands-on practice in the third year with guidance from experience practitioners. The fourth year of the course is an internship year, working with real patients in real clinical environments.
Berkley Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine College offers a master's degree of science in oriental medicine, consisting of clinical practice units, oriental medicine, oriental herbology, acupuncture, basic science and clinical integrative medicine units. An additional 120 hours of professional ethics and practice is also available. Various continuing education programs, such as the Advanced Constitutional Facial Acupuncture Certification, the Medical Qigong Therapy Certificate Program and community classes (normally covering the basics of integrative medicine, similar to the introductory module of the master's degree) are also available to anyone curious about integrative medicine but not pursuing a degree.
Florida College of Integrative Medicine offers a master's degree program that gives equal weight to integrative medical practices and theory as well as Western medicine. Students work toward a master's degree of science in oriental medicine, covering a range or Chinese medical theories and practices, biomedical sciences acupuncture, oriental theory, Western medicine study, clinical training and business consulting. Modules are also provided in ethical practice, treatment plans and communicating with patients; many modules are delivered through hands-on teaching methods, with internships in the fourth year of the course.
