Nontraditional Medical Schools

According to MedecineNet.com, more than a third of the people in the United States use alternative or complementary medicine treatment, a statistic that bodes well for those who are interested in pursuing a profession in the field of nontraditional medicine. Nontraditional medicine includes chiropractic care, herbal healing, aromatherapy, homeopathy, Chinese medicine, and many more branches. Although a doctorate degree isn't required for practicing alternative and nontraditional medicine, training and certification in the field is important. There are many schools for nontraditional medicine in the United States, many of which offer distance learning programs. Some schools focus on one particular branch of nontraditional medicine and others are interdisciplinary with a generalized degree.

    • Clayton College of Natural Health (CCHN) is the largest college of natural health in the world, having been established for over thirty years. CCNH was given the Quality Certification by the USDLA (United States Distance Learning Association ) in 2008.     Five Branches University

    • Five Branches University, with two campuses in Santa Cruz and San Jose, California, offers a 4-year Masters Program in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), 3208 hours in length with 170.5 units with a third of the program focused on clinical work.
