Based in St. Maarten Netherlands Antilles, the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine has provided medical education since 1978 and has sent 4,000 graduates to practice medicine in countries worldwide. AUC has accreditation from the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM). Qualified AUC students may apply for U.S. Federal Financial Aid and can gain their licenses in the United States after graduation. AUC models its medical program after the programs of American medical colleges. AUC students study five semesters of medical theory followed by four and one-half semesters of clinical sciences in allied hospitals in the United States and England.

Ross University School of Medicine on the island of Dominica has graduated roughly 7,400 students since its establishment in 1978, and most of its alumni now practice medicine in the United States. Students spend 16 months learning the rigors of medical science at the Portsmouth, Dominica, campus. Afterward they transfer to an institution in Miami before distributing to Ross University's 70 teaching hospitals for clinical rotations. Ross University School of Medicine provides 600 placements for their students after graduation. The licensing boards of New York, New Jersey, California and Florida have approved Ross University's standards in medical education, and its students are in demand in various residency programs in the United States.

Established in 1977, St. George's University School of Medicine was the Caribbean's first medical school. As of June, 2010, SGU has produced more than 11,000 medical graduates from its base on the island of Grenada who have gone on to medical practices in countries around the world. The school boasts 300 science instructors, and SGU students do their rotations in 50 partner hospitals and clinical centers in the United States and the United Kingdom.
