Al-Quds University, located in Jerusalem, offers an extensive medical education that is designed to last approximately six years. To complete the program, students must complete 253 credit hours. Admission to the program requires the completion of a Palestinian secondary education program (or its equivalent) that is approved by the Ministry of Education; medical students must score 90 percent or higher on the Palestinian General Secondary Certificate Exam. The university does accept students who have completed an international equivalent of this exam, e.g., the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). During the first three years, students complete their preclinical stage by taking a number of foundation courses in addition to the university's required general education courses. Students take the bulk of their medical courses during the clinical stage of years no. 4 to 6. These include subjects such as introduction to clinical medicine, dermatology, internal medicine, psychiatry, health economics, orthopedics, community medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, general surgery and forensic medicine. Al-Quds offers students the opportunity to specialize in various fields, such as pulmonary medicine, neurosurgery, anesthesia and critical care, and cardiac surgery and urology.

An-Najah National University in the West Bank offers a third possibility for students wanting to study medicine in the region of Palestine. Admission to the program is contingent upon the completion of a secondary education certificate approved by Palestine's Ministry of Education. International students are admitted to the program as long as the Palestinian Ministry of Education accepts their secondary school diploma or certificate as equal to the Palestinian General Secondary Education Certificate. Like the other medical programs in Palestine, An-Najah offers a six-year curriculum; An-Najah University divides this curriculum into two phases or cycles: a biomedical sciences cycle and clinical sciences cycle. The biomedical sciences cycle covers the first three years of the program, where students become proficient in the basic biomedical sciences as a foundation for further study.
