The Rocky Vista University College of Osteopathic Medicine, located in Parker, Colorado, is a Doctor of Medicine degree-granting institution which opened in 2008. The vision of its founder, Yife Tien, was to create a school that could make money while educating a generation of doctors who could practice around the globe in a variety of medical fields. The college has received provisional accreditation from the American Osteopathic Association for Commission on Osteopathic Accreditation. According to the Rocky Vista website, as an osteopathic medicine practitioner you have the legal authority to practice unlimited medicine, including surgery, in any one of the 50 states. According to the Rocky Vista website, tuition as of the 2010-2011 school year was $42,120.
The school does offer financial aid, but not enough to cover all of the expenses associated with attendance. You cannot apply for public student loans at this school because Rocky Vista is not eligible to participate in Title IV funding. According to the college website, any financial aid that the school offers is to fill the gap between the cost of school attendance and your resources. The primary responsibility to provide tuition monies, however, is yours.
